Summary of Responsibility:
The ideal candidate for the Installation Manager roll has extensive experience customizing machine tools and is highly capable of clearly documenting procedures and collaborating with external and internal partners to improve upon designs and processes. The Installation Manager directly manages and mentors a highly skilled group of technicians while converting a high number of order details and customer requirements into a clear schedule and plan for the team.
What You Will Contribute:
- Directly supervise the Installation Service Technicians at The Robert E. Morris Company.
- Hold regularly scheduled team meetings discussing metrics, critical announcements, document and follow up on questions, and recognize performance or behaviors we want to replicate and build a culture around.
- Meet technicians in the field monthly to monitor work order progress, review MPDP goals and evaluate their customer service.
- Regularly attend installations to provide on the job training to service technicians and help troubleshoot issues.
- Responsible for reviewing capital orders and determining the installation time required for scheduling.
- Responsible for verifying the capital team is ordering and delivering all material to site required to install options.
- Responsible for measuring actual installation time and creating standards for time to install various options, documenting issues when installation times are not being met, and lead project actions to correct issues long term.
- Propose and execute projects that will improve processes to improve our metrics or costs with a goal to reduce issues and installation time/cost annually.
- Work closely with the capital sales team to provide feedback used for accurate quoting and improved design decisions.
- Meet with the capital team on each order to ensure a thorough handoff from sales to installation.
- Review and complete the tasks on the install planning checklist 30 days before installation.
- Determine the installation time required, tools and material required, and technician skill level required.
- Assist the scheduler in matching techs to each install based on complexity, location and workload.
- Ensure the scheduler’s tasks are entered and updated with a next step and expected time to complete.
- Ensure techs are entering service notes daily, and review service notes for potential issues/delays.
- Communicate with techs daily and provide feedback to improve service notes and identify possible issues.
- Identify where service technicians may be struggling with work or diagnosis to aid on site.
- Log all issues and lead the closure of each. Log issue category and root cause to determine recurring issues.
- Track team performance and issues to provide feedback and mentorship as required.
- Monitor install progress daily and provide feedback to scheduling daily to ensure accurate planning.
- Review install documentation, resolve issues, and submit within 48 hours of completing the installation.
- Monitor time spent on installations, with assumptions made for each option, to optimize future scheduling.
- Document procedures and make process or design optimizations to reduce time on future installs.
- Installation time versus original estimate
- Installation reductions year over year (by machine and option)
- Open issues and time to close
- Recurring issues and actions planned to address

Qualifications and Competencies:
- 5+ years in supervisory field service management position or direct field service experience at a senior level at Morris establishing the ability to perform in this role
- High aptitude in electrical and mechanical issues with prior field service experience, preferably with Okuma machines
- Natural problem-solving ability and highly organized using established tools and processes.
- Extensive experience in all aspects of customer/supplier relationship management.
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
- Strong project management skills and track record for developing staff.
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in software associated with Microsoft Suite and other related business programs required.
- Exhibit excellent teamwork and communication skills.
